Important Information for Incoming Kindergarten Families!
Assessment Day
Kindergarten Assessment Day will be on Monday, August 3rd.

The kindergarten teachers will be assessing students on basic literacy and math skills to help identify where each student is performing in the various domains. We will be using this information to ensure that we are creating balanced classrooms. Appointments will be approximately 30 minutes.

Registration
Registration is online this year. Families enrolling a student who is new to the district should use the New Student Registration link located on the main page of the Hayden School District website or under the Parent Resources section to begin the enrollment process.

Kindergarten Soft Start
Kindergarten students will have a Soft Start during the first week of school. A small group of students will attend on Monday, Tuesday, OR Wednesday, with all kindergarten students attending together on Thursday. This gives teachers time to build routines, get to know each child, and help everyone feel comfortable as they begin kindergarten.

We understand childcare can be a challenge, so we'll do our best to accommodate family preferences for Soft Start days, although we cannot guarantee every request.

🚌 Important Transportation Update for the 2026–2027 School Year

Dear Hayden School District Families,
As we prepare for the upcoming school year, we want to share an important update regarding student transportation.

Like many school districts across Colorado and the nation, Hayden School District continues to experience a shortage of qualified school bus drivers. Due to our current staffing levels, we will be operating two bus routes this school year instead of three.

After carefully reviewing all of our routes, we made the difficult decision to implement the option that impacts the fewest number of students and families. This change will primarily affect families living in the Cog area (CR76, CR78 & CR80).

We understand that changes to transportation can create challenges for families. If this adjustment will cause a significant hardship, we encourage you to contact the Transportation Department at 970-276-3864. Our staff will work with you to identify the closest available bus stop and discuss possible transportation options.

As bus registration forms continue to be submitted, we are actively building and finalizing our routes. Families who have registered for transportation will receive their individual route information and pickup/drop-off schedule by email from the Transportation Department during the week prior to the start of school.

We sincerely appreciate your patience, flexibility, and understanding as we navigate the ongoing bus driver shortage affecting school districts across our state.

Our bus drivers play a vital role in safely transporting our students each day, and adding more drivers would help us continue providing the highest level of service to our entire community.

📚 Back-to-School Information & Online Registration Update 🐯

Important Athletics/Activities Form Update:
We are aware of an issue within PowerSchool where the Athletics/Activities Form is currently only visible in the PowerSchool mobile app under "General Forms." At this time, it is not appearing when families log in through a computer.
We are actively working with PowerSchool IT to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.
If your student plans to participate in athletics or activities and you are able, you may complete the Athletics/Activities Form using the PowerSchool mobile app while we work on a permanent fix.

📢 Online Registration Reminder – Please Complete All Required Forms

Dear Hayden Families,
Thank you to everyone who has already started completing your student's online registration! We are beginning to see registrations come in for review and approval, and we appreciate you taking the time to complete this important process.
As our office reviews registrations, we have noticed that some required forms are being missed. **Please remember that all forms in the Parent Portal must be completed each year**, even if the information has not changed from previous years.
A few important reminders:
All required annual forms must be completed before your student's registration can be finalized.
Out-of-District Students: If your student attends Hayden Schools, a new Out-of-District Application must be completed every year for consideration.
Middle & High School Athletics: If your student plans to participate in **any athletic program or school activity**, please complete the **Athletics Participation Forms** available in your Parent Portal as part of the registration process.

Our office staff will begin returning to the district Wednesday, July 29, and will be available to answer questions or assist families with the registration process.
We will also host an In-Person Registration Day on:

We are excited to introduce Online Registration through your PowerSchool Parent Portal for the 2026-2027 school year!

This new process will make annual registration easier and more convenient for our families. Through your PowerSchool Parent Portal, you will be able to:
• Complete all required annual registration forms online.
• Review and update your family's contact information.
• Update emergency contacts, medical information, and other important student records.
• Ensure your student's information is current before the first day of school.
• Access the registration forms in English or Spanish at the click of a button.

Our goal is to provide families with one convenient location to manage student information while helping the district maintain the most accurate and up-to-date records possible.
PowerSchool Parent Portal Access

Beginning July 29, if you need your student's Access ID and Access Password or have forgotten your Parent Portal username or password, please contact your school's office. Our staff will be happy to assist you in getting your account set up.
