Program Fee: $150

Gear Information:
We recognize gear can be a major barrier to entry for skiing and snowboarding so we offer plenty of options for youth to have access to gear!
Free Rentals: All participants who need hard gear (skis, snowboards, poles, boots, helmets) will receive FREE DAILY RENTALS from Steamboat Resort provided by SOS Outreach. These will be distributed on each ride day.
Seasonal Rentals: Christy Sports is offering seasonal rentals for $100.00- these rentals are for youth who may have access to skiing outside of our five ride days, you can sign up HERE.
Soft Gear (coats, pants): SOS can provide any soft gear needs- coats, pants, gloves but PLEASE attend the in-person registration to check out those items.

Fill in new application or review and update your Participant Profile

Danny’s Rocket Ranch will join Steamboat Creates for Space Cowboy’s opening weekend. On November 7th from 10AM-11AM you can learn more about Danny’s story, Space Camp and the opportunities available to young people interested in aerospace and STEM. Danny’s Rocket Ranch is partnering with Space Cowboy Colorado to help another young person take that first step. As part of Space Cowboy’s residency, one student from Routt County will receive a scholarship to attend Space Camp.

Space Cowboy, a fiber art exhibition, is inspired by a pretty simple question:

How can we help a kid who dreams about going to the Moon discover a path to get there?

Few people embody that idea better than Danny Jaques of Danny’s Rocket Ranch.

Danny grew up on a ranch near Ignacio, Colorado, watching the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo missions and dreaming of becoming an astronaut. Danny eventually became a science teacher — and turned that childhood fascination with space into a mission to give young people the opportunities Danny wished for as a kid.

After discovering Space Camp at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama, Danny began organizing trips for students in grades 4–12. Since then, Danny has helped take more than 500 students to Space Camp and was inducted into the Space Camp Hall of Fame in 2010.

It’s a pretty perfect Colorado Space Cowboy story: a kid from a ranch who looked up at the sky, dreamed about space, and has spent a lifetime helping other kids discover that those dreams might actually lead somewhere.
